Rochelle Hurt is a poet and creative nonfiction writer specializing in hybrid forms. She writes about the lives of women and girls, especially those living in the rust belt. She is the author of several books of poetry, including Lightboxes, which won the Dorset Prize (Tupelo Press, 2027); The J Girls: A Reality Show (Indiana University Press, 2022); In Which I Play the Runaway, which won the Barrow Street Poetry Prize (2016); The Rusted City: A Novel in Poems (2014); and Book of Non (Broadstone Books, 2023), a collaboration with writer Carol Guess. Her work has been included in the Best New Poets and Best of the Net anthologies, as well as literary journals like Poetry, Prairie Schooner, Iowa Review, Georgia Review, AGNI, and elsewhere. She’s been awarded prizes and residency fellowships from Arts & Letters, Poetry International, Vermont Studio Center, Jentel, and Yaddo. She is currently working on a hybrid memoir about gender, horror, and the rust belt.
