Mariam Mohammed is a Ghanaian graduate student at the University of Tennessee, specializing in Rhetorics, Writing, and Linguistics. Her research and creative projects explore the intersections of race, language, mental health, and belonging, with a focus on the nuanced experiences of Black African international students. Her commitment to understanding and articulating these complex issues drives both her teaching, scholarly and creative endeavors. Mariam’s work advocates for equitable language policies and educational practices that respect diverse identities, highlighting how systemic marginalization shapes student identity and agency.
