Research Interests: Film (particularly queer indie or horror), Queer/transgender rhetorics, Social media rhetorics
Ivy (they/she) is a graduate student hailing from as varied of places as Aviano, Italy, and Adamsville, Tennessee. They completed their bachelor’s in English literature and cinema studies in 2023 before studying rhetoric here at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, and their previous work in literature focused on horror and queer/sexuality studies, writing an undergraduate thesis on the Hellraiser franchise. Currently, her work focuses on the intersection between online media and culture, particularly in how queer communities online and offline continue to create art and community. They’ve worked as a tutor at the Judith Anderson Herbert Writing Center, a graduate teaching assistant/associate, and a research assistant for the Maria Edgeworth Letters Project with Dr. Hilary Havens. When she isn’t working on her thesis or teaching her students, she’s watching bad horror movies, listening to Ethel Cain, or trying to make her friends laugh with bad comedy.
