Hank Backer is a lecturer in the Department of English at UT.  He teaches ENGL 255, Public Writing, and First Year Composition classes—his English 102 is called Inquiry into Video Games and Gaming Culture.  He also teaches ENGL 253, Intro to Fiction, with a special focus on Gothic fiction and Southern writers (like O’Connor and Faulkner), and his ENGL 251, Intro to Poetry, begins with Romanticism and ends with contemporary poets.
