English Course Placement for ESL Students
Undergraduate students will primarily be placed into English classes by TOEFL (or equivalent) scores.

Undergraduate Application for International Students
An international first-year student is any applicant that is not a US citizen or a permanent resident applying to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville who has or will soon complete their secondary school education. Any applicant that has attended a college or university must apply as a transfer student.
