2024-2025 Undergraduate Scholarship Winners

Please join in the English Department in celebrating our undergraduate scholarship winners for 2024-2025.

Andrew Adorbo is a recipient of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship. The Claremont, California native is a senior English major who enjoys traveling (especially to the beach), hiking, and photography.

Senior Technical Communications major Ella Barton is one of this year’s winners of the Michael W. Dennis Scholarship. The Nashville native is an active member in the Kappa Delta sorority, and in her spare time enjoys reading and dancing.

Knoxville native Lidia Biggs is the inaugural recipient of the Bill Larsen Cinema Scholarship. A senior English major with a concentration in Creative Writing, Lidia enjoys crocheting and employing her writing skills in poetry and Letterboxd reviews.

A senior Rhetoric and Writing major from Jacksonville, Florida, Tiffany Black is a recipient of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship. When she isn’t reading (for class or for pleasure), Tiffany can be seen performing as a member of the Pride of the Southland Marching Band.

Savannah Booth is a sophomore Literature major and recipient of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship. A native of Knoxville, Savannah serves as an Orientation Leader and a teaching assistant for First-Year Studies.

The Edwin Watson Bowe Scholarship has been awarded to Hannah Buchanan, a junior Literature major. A junior from Asheville, North Carolina, Hannah enjoys hiking, movie nights with her friends, and visiting thrift stores.

Emerson Clement is a junior Literature major from Houston, Texas. A recipient of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship, Emerson enjoys traveling and watching movies, and is particularly active on campus, serving as Director of Public Relations for Pi Beta Phi and as a member of Sigma Tau Delta, the Jones Center for Leadership and Service, and the Leadership Knoxville Scholars Program.

A senior Literature major from Nashville, Annabelle Climer is a recipient of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship. In addition to reading and spending time with her friends, Annabelle enjoys learning new languages and traveling abroad to practice her skills.

Knoxville native Karina Dale received the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship for the 2024-25 school year. A junior specializing in Literature, Karina enjoys traveling, cooking, and reading in her spare time.

Elena Faust, a Knoxville native and sophomore Technical Communications major, is a co-recipient of the William W. Jenkins Scholarship. Elena has a wide range of hobbies, including baking and crocheting at home and getting away to visit the gym, travel, and paddleboard.

Hannah Fletcher is a junior majoring in Technical Communications and recipient of the Louise and Aileen Seilaz Scholarship. The Walland, Tennessee native enjoys writing fiction and poetry, taking nature walks with her husband, and volunteering as a member of her church band.

Michael W. Dennis Scholarship co-recipient Olivia Green is a senior Technical Communications major from Cecilia, Kentucky. In her spare time, Olivia enjoys reading, writing poetry, journaling, and sharing Earl Grey tea with her friends.

Shelby Hansen is a recipient of the 2024-25 Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship.

Senior Creative Writing major Rachel Hodge is a winner of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship. A native of Franklin, Tennessee, Rachel enjoys reading, learning new languages, and traveling.

Wesley Keller is a senior focusing on Creative Writing and is a recipient of the Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship. The Gallatin, Tennessee native enjoys fishing and playing tennis, as well as visiting local arcades.

A sophomore Creative Writing major, Katelyn Moody hails from St. Augustine, Florida. A winner of this year’s Charles and Frances Mangam Merit Scholarship, Katelyn enjoys hiking, photography, and attending sporting events.

A native of Columbia, Tennessee, junior Rhetoric and Writing major Allise Moran is the recipient of the Patsy G. Hammontree Scholarship. When she’s not in class or spending time with friends, Allise interns at a local law firm.

Junior Literature and Creative Writing major Chiara Susanna Ravelli was born in Italy and grew up in various European cities before moving to Knoxville in 2019. A co-recipient of this year’s William W. Jenkins Scholarship, she enjoys going on drives, cooking and baking, and spending time with her friends.

Launa Shedden, of Sevierville, Tennessee, has received the Felice and Boudleax Bryant Scholarship. A senior Creative Writing major, Launa is an active member of the singing and worship crew in her church, as well as serving as a Teen Librarian.
