Biography

Andrew Todd specializes in contemporary literature, the novel, and narrative theory. His research focuses on the rhetorical relationship between the author, narrator, and reader, especially in experimental forms such as ergodic literature or digital narrative. An essay on the narrative structure of sandbox video games has been published in Being Dragonborn,a 2021 edited collection on The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim (eds. Mike Piero and Mark A. Ouellette), and an essay on the unnatural narrative of Mark Z. Danielewski’s House of Leaves is forthcoming in a special issue of the Journal of Narrative Theory.

His current English 102 course is “Inquiry into Fan Culture,” in which research focuses on the positive and negative effects and trends of fandoms. Class discussions have included topics ranging from Vol Sports to video games, to Taylor Swift, to the fandom of politics.
